Give me strength.

Institutional racism is not the same as racism. That’s why it had that whole extra word in there. It means stuff, you know?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I would say racism without institutional power behind it is prejudice.

You can have prejudice that doesn’t involve race in any way. Racism kinda has to. related but distinct concept.

I obviously mean racial prejudice, I kind of thought since we were talking about race I wouldn’t need to specify.

Because racial prejudice is called racism, which isn’t limited to institutionalized racism. That’s why they have those qualifying words in front of them.

Racial prejudice and racism are different things. If a black persons hates a white person and acts badly towards them because they are white, they have racial prejudice, which is bad and wrong. But it’s not a two way street, it’s not racist because the actions of that individual do not feed into a wider narrative of systematic oppression.
