Ways this PSA completely, utterly fails:
near-naked, faceless, disembodied women’s torso = dehumanization of women
euphemizing rape as “having sex” in an anti-rape campaign
implying the “first place you enter” is the victim’s body = more dehumanization
low rape conviction rates means prison not much of a deterrent for rapists
“What we’re left with, then, is an ostensible anti-rape campaign whose only success is more deeply entrenching tools and language of the rape culture. Huzzah.” via shakesville
Two other ridiculous posters;

“Let your hair down not your guard”
i.e “BE AFRAID ALL THE TIME, DON’T GET DRUNK, DON’T HAVE FUN, OR YOU WILL BE RAPED, AND IT WILL BE YOUR FAULT FOR LETTING YOUR GUARD DOWN.”

“Rape. Short word - long sentence.”
Is it though? Because i’m pretty sure that many rapes are never reported, many rapists are never convicted, and the ones that are often serve appallingly short sentences. Also the guy pictured on the poster is weeping, are we meant to feel sorry for him? Relate to him? What the hell.
